Last week, our consortium made a strong impact at the 8th Central European Biomass Conference (CEBC 2026) in Graz. Between 20–23 January, partners from Poland, Slovenia, the UK, Austria, and Greece gathered to exchange knowledge under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Staff Exchange program.

During the sessions, Dr Omar Mohammad (Aston University) took the stage to deliver an insightful oral presentation on Sustainable production of hydroxybenzoic acids from biomass-derived phenolics via CO₂-based carboxylation.

Our team also sparked great discussions during the poster sessions, showcasing our latest findings on:

  • Assoc. Prof Szymon Szufa (Lodz University of Technology) Torrefaction process of Oxytree under dry steam atmosphere to reduce phytotoxicity and stimulate growth of Lemna minor L. for biochar applications.

  • Msc Julia Osmańska & Dr Hilal Unyay (Lodz University of Technology) Physicochemical properties and combustion kinetics of torrefied olive stones produced by commercial dry torrefaction and superheated steam torrefaction.

  • Msc Nikolaos Logos (Technical University of Crete) Social network analysis of the biochar EU funded research since 2014

We are proud to see the results of our BioTrainValue project gaining visibility on such an important stage 🚀

Many thanks to our colleagues at BEST – Bioenergy and Sustainable Technologies GmbH and the Austrian Biomass Association (ABA) for the excellent venue, professional organization, and a great space for cooperation.

See you at the 9th Central European Biomass Conference 👋
