BioTrainValue at the Conference on RDF and Biomass-Derived Fuels
29 OCTOBER 2025 · ŁÓDŹ, POLAND
On 29 October 2025, a conference organised by the Association of RDF and Biomass Fuel Producers (ZPPOB) was held at the Faculty of Process and Environmental Engineering at Lodz University of Technology. The event brought together representatives of the alternative fuels sector to exchange knowledge, discuss market developments and explore challenges related to the production and responsible management of waste-derived fuels.
The conference provided an opportunity to discuss the role of refuse-derived fuels (RDF), biomass and other alternative fuels in improving resource efficiency and supporting the transition towards a more circular economy. It also highlighted the importance of cooperation between research institutions and industry in developing sustainable approaches to waste and biomass utilisation.
During the conference, Prof. Szymon Szufa presented the oral presentation about the BioTrainValue project, introducing its objectives and research activities focused on biomass valorisation through superheated steam torrefaction, pyrolysis and gasification. The presentation highlighted the project’s multidisciplinary approach to improving biomass utilisation and developing sustainable pathways for energy production and valuable products.

By presenting BioTrainValue to representatives of the alternative fuels sector, the project contributed to knowledge exchange between academia and industry and helped raise awareness of research addressing the sustainable use of biomass resources.
